McLaren Reveals Upcoming Hypercar at Le Mans Fan Village
In a significant event at the Le Mans fan village, McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown and United Autosports Co-owner Richard Dean unveiled McLaren’s new Hypercar—developed on a Dallara chassis and powered by a V6 twin-turbo engine crafted in partnership with Autotecnica Motori. Set to compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship’s (WEC) top class starting in 2027, this prototype marks McLaren’s ambitious return to endurance racing.
The reveal coincided with the announcement of James Barclay as the new Team Principal. “This is what it’s all about. I’m a big fan of motorsport, and we’re so happy to be here in front of the fans with our new Hypercar,” Brown stated. He emphasized the collaborative effort between McLaren’s automotive group and racing team in its design.
Dean expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership: “It’s a dream for United to partner with McLaren. They have set the standard high.”
This unveiling signals McLaren’s strategic commitment to the hypercar category, highlighting both its engineering capabilities and dedication to performance in top-tier motorsport. Further details regarding the car’s technical specifications and performance objectives are expected leading up to its competitive debut.
