Mercedes-AMG Unveils Next-Gen GT3 and Black Series Cars
In a significant advancement for the motorsports community, Mercedes-AMG has announced the launch of two new models stemming from last year’s CONCEPT AMG GT TRACK SPORT: the Mercedes-AMG GT3 and the highly anticipated AMG GT Black Series, designated as X192 within Mercedes-Benz’s lineup.
Performance Focus
Michael Schiebe, a key figure at Mercedes-Benz Group AG, emphasized the ambition behind these new vehicles, stating, “We are developing the most extreme Black Series ever… It is our unambiguous commitment to maximum performance.” This sentiment underscores the intention to push boundaries in both road legality and racing performance.
The GT3 will serve as the successor to the previous generation, with initial prototype testing commencing in October 2025 across various tracks, including Nürburgring Nordschleife. This phase aims to refine performance and safety standards, critical for Mercedes-AMG’s competitive edge in the Customer Racing Program, which started in 2010 and has seen considerable success.
Design and Development
The new GT3’s aesthetic has been finalized with a striking red and yellow-green color scheme, representing its dual focus—customer racing and high-performance road cars. The establishment of Affalterbach Racing GmbH ensures dedicated attention towards the development and manufacture of these next-generation vehicles, aiming for a 2027 race debut.
