Spa GT Open 500: Révész and Götz Claim Victory in Endurance Opener
Levente Révész and Max Götz of Team Motopark secured a dominant victory at the GT Open 500 held at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, marking their second win of the season in the 2025 International GT Open series. This victory enhances Révész’s lead in the overall standings and represents a significant debut win for Götz in the series.
The race unfolded dramatically when the pole-sitting Greystone GT McLaren, driven by James Kell and Dean Macdonald, experienced electrical issues during the first pit stop, causing them to lose four laps. Götz acknowledged the McLaren’s early strength but credited their strategic execution: “We executed everything perfectly,” he stated, while Révész admitted their good fortune in avoiding issues.
The battle for second place remained competitive, culminating in reigning champions Simon Reicher and Christopher Haase finishing ahead in their Audi for Eastalent Racing, outpacing the GetSpeed Mercedes duo of Anthony Bartone and Fabian Schiller.
In the Pro-Am category, Steve Jans and Aaron Walker earned their inaugural victory for Mercedes by GetSpeed, finishing ahead of Valentin Pierburg-Dominik Baumann and Marcin Jedlinski-Karol Basz. Meanwhile, Miguel Ramos and Mark Sansom led the Am race, securing Garage 59’s second win of the year, followed by Gino Forgione-Michele Rugolo’s AF Corse Ferrari and Alfredo Hernández-Stéphane Tribaudini’s BDR Grupo Prom Mercedes.
The event began under overcast skies with moments of drizzle. The first stint saw Kell dominate before his McLaren faltered, allowing Götz to take the lead. By the end of the race, Götz had established a commanding 20-second lead over Haase, with Krütten finishing third after post-race penalties shuffled the final standings.
