Gulf 12 Hour Updates for 2025: New Regulations and Categories Announced

The Gulf 12 Hour, scheduled for December 14, 2025, at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, will see significant regulation changes for its 15th edition.

In the highly competitive three-tier GT3 class—Pro, ProAm, and Am—each lineup must now include at least one Bronze-rated driver. Pro class Bronze drivers are mandated to complete a minimum of three hours of driving, while those in the ProAm category must drive for at least six hours. The Am category will now be exclusively for Bronze drivers, who will have the opportunity to work with professional drivers during free practice for setup assistance, although this collaboration will not extend into qualifying or race conditions.

Adding to the event’s intrigue is the introduction of a new GTX1 category, dedicated to one-make "Cup" cars from manufacturers including Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Porsche.

To ensure competitive parity, the Gulf 12 Hour promoter will collaborate with data specialists Emotag to provide GTX1 teams with specialized dataloggers. This initiative aims to facilitate an effective balance of performance (BOP), which will account for vehicle setup and pit stop durations.

These developments are poised to elevate the racing experience of the Gulf 12 Hour, attracting further participation and engagement in the motorsport community.
