Lamborghini Squadra Corse Expands Factory Driver Roster Ahead of 2026 Season
Lamborghini Squadra Corse has officially promoted Maximilian Paul and Mattia Michelotto to its factory driver roster for the 2026 season, confirming their participation with the upcoming Temerario GT3 model. The specific race schedules for both drivers remain unannounced.
Maximilian Paul, 25, has a five-year history racing GT3-spec Lamborghinis, most recently competing in the DTM and GT World Challenge Europe with his family-operated Paul Motorsport team. His noteworthy performance at the 24H Nürburgring secured him a spot on the SP9 Pro-Am podium with Konrad Motorsport. Expressing gratitude for his elevation to the Lamborghini factory team, Paul stated, “It’s a true honour to begin this new chapter… and to start the upcoming season with the new Temerario GT3.”
Mattia Michelotto, 23, also enters his sixth season with Lamborghini, having claimed the 2021 Super Trofeo World Final title and the 2022 Pro-Am Sprint championship in the Italian GT Championship. “This represents a new beginning, marked by new challenges and renewed determination,” Michelotto commented, attributing his success to supporters throughout his career.
In addition, Lamborghini announced the winners of its Junior shootout, held at the Misano World Circuit in November. British GT race winner Hugo Cook was named the GT3 Junior winner, while Colin Queen secured the Super Trofeo Junior title after a successful rookie season in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series.
Rouven Mohr, interim head of motorsport at Automobili Lamborghini, emphasized the significance of the Young Driver Programmes in fostering future talents. He noted, “Both Maxi and Mattia have demonstrated their talents… and we are excited to see what they can achieve throughout the year.”
This strategic move aligns with Lamborghini’s ongoing commitment to nurturing the next generation of motorsport professionals.
