Pirelli to Introduce Custom Tyre for DTM Championship in 2026
Pirelli has announced plans to develop a dedicated tyre for the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) championship, set to debut in the 2026 season. Following its appointment as the exclusive supplier in 2023, Pirelli will transition from the current P Zero DHG GT3 racing tyre to a bespoke compound tailored for DTM’s unique requirements.
ADAC Motorsport Director Thomas Voss highlighted the need for specialized tyres, stating, “The DTM is the GT and touring car series with the highest performance density worldwide and places special demands on tyres.” He emphasized that the new tyres will promote fair competition and support testing regulations, marking a significant advancement for the DTM.
Details regarding the new tyre’s composition remain limited, but the introduction of RFID technology for enhanced tracking has been confirmed. Notably, production will shift from Pirelli’s Bollate, Italy facility to Breuberg, Germany.
Mario Isola, Pirelli Motorsport Director, underscored the partnership’s significance, asserting that the move reinforces the quality of Pirelli’s offerings and the brand’s commitment to the DTM. “This partnership represents a significant commitment, but also a valuable opportunity for further growth,” he stated.
Pirelli will also maintain its supply of tyres for the ADAC GT Masters, which will continue to use the P Zero DHG in 2026. The ongoing collaboration illustrates a focused strategy towards enhancing competitive performance in both championships.
