Le Mans Museum to Undergo Major Expansion Under ‘M24’ Initiative
In a pivotal development for motorsports heritage, the Le Mans Museum, located at the North gate of the Circuit de La Sarthe, is set for a significant expansion. A foundation stone-laying ceremony was held yesterday, presided over by ACO President Pierre Fillon and FIA Endurance Commission President Richard Mille.
The initiative, dubbed ‘M24’, aims to transform the museum from a site focused solely on the 24 Hours of Le Mans into a comprehensive facility dedicated to the history, culture, and innovation of mechanical sports globally.
At a planned total surface area of 8,600 square meters, the upgraded museum will feature immersive experiences spanning various motorsport disciplines, including Formula 1, Endurance racing, Rally, and American automotive culture, such as IndyCar and Can-Am.
The enhanced museum is slated to open in May 2026, coinciding with the 120th anniversary of the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO). This expansion underscores the ACO’s commitment to promoting motorsport heritage and innovation on a worldwide scale.
