Report: Key Innovations Set to Debut at PMW Expo 2025
The 2025 Professional Motorsport World (PMW) Expo, taking place at Koelnmesse, Germany, will host over 200 exhibitors showcasing cutting-edge technology aimed at enhancing motorsport and performance engineering. The expo, a critical gathering for racing teams, OEMs, constructors, and distributors from over 45 countries, will offer insights into advancements in engine technology, aerodynamics, simulation, and driver safety.
Highlighted Innovations
Marelli Europe Spa Motorsport is set to unveil its Racing Electric Axle (REA), a compact yet powerful solution featuring an oil-cooled motor generator and advanced control electronics. Designed for high-level competition, the REA emphasizes power density and reliability, positioning it as a leader in motorsport electrification.
Helix will present its electric drive units (EDUs), which integrate motors, power electronics, and transmissions. Proven in top competitions, these systems deliver performance metrics of 23 kW/kg without thermal degradation. The plug-and-play design significantly enhances assembly efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
GMC Racing is debuting an Oversized Water Cooler for the Subaru Impreza WRX/STI (2008–2014). Constructed from lightweight aluminum, this cooling solution is engineer-tested for optimal performance and reliability, providing a straightforward upgrade without modification.
Van Der Lee Turbo Systems will also showcase lightweight turbochargers, designed for extreme performance applications. These units, used in projects like the Porsche 963 and Alpine LMDh, are capable of producing up to 1,050 bhp while reducing weight and costs significantly.
