6 Hours of São Paulo: Porsche Leads in Second Free Practice
São Paulo, Brazil – Porsche Penske Motorsport’s #6 963 secured the fastest time in the second Free Practice session of the 6 Hours of São Paulo, recording a best lap of 1:23.508. This performance marks a substantial improvement from the morning’s session, where Laurens Vanthoor led with a 1:25.1.
Co-driver Kevin Estre’s time was closely followed by the sister #5 Porsche, driven by Julian Andlauer, who clocked in at 1:23.612. BMW Team WRT’s #15 M Hybrid V8, piloted by Kevin Magnussen, finished just milliseconds behind at 1:23.618.
The #12 Cadillac Hertz Team JOTA and #007 Aston Martin THOR Team Valkyrie rounded out the top five, with Harry Tincknell achieving a commendable 1:24.006 for Aston Martin.
In the LMGT3 category, Eduardo Barrichello of Racing Spirit of Leman set the quickest time at 1:34.493, edging ahead of the #78 AKKODIS ASP Lexus. The #87 Lexus, which topped FP1, settled in third. Notably, all GT times improved compared to the morning session as teams adapted to the newly resurfaced track and Goodyear’s Hard tyre.
The session saw a solitary incident involving Iron Lynx’s Andrew Gilbert, who crashed the #61 Mercedes-AMG at Turn 4, but he managed to return to the pits under his own power, with the car remaining in the garage for the remainder of the session.
