Random Vandals Racing Enters 2026 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge with Two-Car Lineup
CONCORD, NC – Random Vandals Racing (RVR) has confirmed its participation in the 2026 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, announcing a two-car entry bolstered by a partnership with Samantha Tan Racing (STR). This strategic collaboration aims to capitalize on the strengths of both teams in one of North America’s most competitive GT4 championships.
The #92 BMW M4 GT4 EVO will be driven by Nicky Hays, the IMSA Diverse Driver Development Scholarship winner and former Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America competitor. Hays will team up with Robert Megennis, who brings valuable experience after securing four podium finishes with Turner Motorsport in the ongoing season. Megennis concluded the 2024 GS class standings in fifth place, reinforcing his competitive pedigree.
“I’m excited to be racing in 2026 with Random Vandals and Nicky,” said Megennis. “RVR has had significant success recently, and I believe we have everything needed to continue that momentum.”
Additionally, RVR will field the #38 BMW for the ST Racing by Random Vandals team, featuring fan favorite Samantha Tan and renowned BMW M factory driver Bill Auberlen. Tan, who achieved four podiums last season in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge while finishing third in the GTDX class standings, views this opportunity as a pivotal moment in her career.
“I’m incredibly excited to step into the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge,” Tan stated. “Competing alongside Bill Auberlen is special; he’s a true BMW legend, and I’m eager to learn from him as we aim for strong results.”
Auberlen’s return to the IMSA paddock comes after a two-year absence where he raced for STR and RVR in the GT World Challenge America. With 65 career wins in IMSA’s top series, Auberlen ranks as the all-time wins leader, alongside 20 victories in the Michelin Pilot Challenge.
“I’m thrilled to be back in IMSA with Sam,” Auberlen remarked. “We have an amazing car in the BMW M4 GT4, and I look forward to competing with such a talented teammate.”
RVR Team Principal, Paul Sparta, expressed enthusiasm about the new lineup, emphasizing the combination of talent and experience. “I’ve known Rob for a while and I’m delighted to finally have him in a Vandals car. Nicky’s impressive performances last season set high expectations for the #92 team.
“The collaboration with STR feels seamless, and I’m confident that Sam and Bill will be fighting for podiums and wins immediately.”
Conclusion
As RVR prepares for the imminent season, the combined experience and talent of its driver lineup position the team as a formidable contender in the upcoming IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, with strong expectations for competitive results. The season kicks off with the Roar Before the 24, setting the stage for an action-packed year in motorsports.
