Robert Wickens Returns to IMSA with DXDT Racing
Robert Wickens is set to make his return to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, competing in five GTD sprint races for DXDT Racing this season. Wickens will co-drive the #36 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R alongside Mason Filippi, starting with the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach and continuing through WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, VIRginia International Raceway, and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Wickens, who suffered a life-changing spinal cord injury in 2018, made his comeback to IMSA last year, marking his first event since 2017. During his debut weekend in the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, he demonstrated his pace by setting the fastest lap in practice, but a race accident ultimately resulted in a 15th place finish alongside co-driver Tommy Milner.
“It’s going to be an exciting season,” Wickens remarked. “I’m hoping to continue the momentum that we started to create in 2025. We’re confident we have the right people to get up to speed quickly, and hopefully we can have more success in Long Beach.”
Wickens will utilize a specially adapted Corvette chassis equipped with next-generation hand controls developed in collaboration with Bosch, General Motors, and Pratt Miller Motorsports. This technology has been pivotal in his return to racing.
Filippi, who raced alongside Wickens from 2022 to 2024 at Bryan Herta Autosport, finished second in the TCR standings for three consecutive years. He and Wickens previously shared a Hyundai Elantra N TCR at the Nürburgring 24 Hours, finishing 25th overall.
DXDT Racing recently recorded a top ten finish at the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, with Filippi, Charlie Eastwood, and Salih Yoluç finishing ninth in GTD.
This upcoming season promises to be pivotal for both Wickens and DXDT Racing as they aim for strong performances throughout the sprint races.
