Roger Penske Named Grand Marshal for 74th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring

As it marks its 60th anniversary, Team Penske’s founder, Roger Penske, will serve as the Grand Marshal for the upcoming 74th Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on Saturday. Penske will officially start the race by commanding drivers to start their engines, followed by a ceremonial lap to engage with the fans.

“Having such a significant figure in motorsports as our Grand Marshal this year is fitting,” stated Matt Muha, President and General Manager of Sebring International Raceway. “It’s an honor for Sebring and IMSA to recognize Mr. Penske’s many achievements.”

Porsche Penske Motorsport enters the event as the defending champion and recently clinched its third consecutive overall victory at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January. Historically, Roger Penske has a strong connection with Sebring, having won there as a driver in both 1961 and 1963. His team made its Sebring debut in 1966, securing a class victory that paved the way for a total of four wins in the event’s history.

Notable victories include the iconic Porsche RS Spyder’s overall win in 2008 and last year’s triumph by Felipe Nasr, Nick Tandy, and Laurens Vanthoor in the No. 7 Porsche 963.

In total, Team Penske has amassed over 660 race victories across various motorsport disciplines, including IMSA, IndyCar, NASCAR, and Formula One.

“I have great memories of racing at Sebring,” remarked Roger Penske. “As we celebrate the 60th anniversary season of Team Penske, I am honored to be named Grand Marshal for this year’s race.”

The prestigious event is set to showcase the rich history and competitive spirit that define Team Penske’s legacy in motorsports.
