Joshua Rowledge Returns to British GT with Mahiki Racing
April 2026 – Joshua Rowledge, a 20-year-old driver, is set to re-enter the British GT Championship this season, driving for Mahiki Racing alongside team owner Steven Lake. Rowledge returns to the GT3 Silver-Am category after a strategically planned sabbatical in 2025, where he honed his skills competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.
Rowledge, who previously experienced a challenging 2024 season in the British GT3 with a Blackthorn Aston Martin, aims to leverage this new chapter with Mahiki Racing aboard one of the team’s two new McLaren GT3 Evos. He focuses on refining his performance amidst a competitive field of factory talent and aspiring professionals.
“I want to prove to the manufacturers, especially McLaren,” Rowledge stated. “Getting the opportunity to showcase my skills alongside factory drivers is invaluable.”
The Silver-Am category is anticipated to be highly competitive, following last year’s intense rivalry between Bridger Motorsport and Beechdean AMR. Rowledge’s experience in the McLaren GT3 Evo, which has demonstrated front-running potential in recent seasons—most notably with Optimum Motorsport—positions him favorably for this campaign.
While Rowledge’s resume includes the 2022 Ginetta Junior title and a win in the 2023 McLaren Trophy Europe, his ambitions are high following a reset year. “In 2024, I had a little bit more of a difficult season… so I decided to go over to Asia, where I could showcase my skills without the inconsistencies of different car performances,” he reflected.
His stint in the Porsche 992 Cup car required a significant adjustment in driving technique due to its unique handling characteristics, which differ from the mid-engined McLaren GT4 and front-engined Aston Martin GT3. This experience has broadened his skill set, culminating in two podium finishes during his time in Asia.
Rowledge’s partnership with Lake, who has a history of running successful racing teams, instills confidence in his approach to the season. “I’m very confident in Mahiki and Steve… I’m excited to work together to get the most out of both of us,” Rowledge said.
With both threats and opportunities ahead, the Silverstone 500 on April 25-26 will mark the official start of the 34th British GT season. “When we rock up for that three-hour race, we’re going to be ready,” Rowledge noted, emphasizing the importance of strategic preparation in GT racing.
Rowledge plans to familiarize himself with the McLaren during several pre-season tests, including the official Media Day at Silverstone on March 31. As the lights go out on the season-opener, he embarks on a critical phase of his career in GT racing.
