BMW Z4 GT3 Returns to ADAC 24H Nürburgring After Hiatus
The BMW Z4 GT3 is poised to make its return to the ADAC 24H Nürburgring later this year, competing for the first time since its last appearance in 2019. Saugmotoren Motorsport, which triumphed in the SP7 class at this prestigious event in 2022 with a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, will field the Z4 GT3.
Team owner Julian ‘Mr. Saugmotoren’ Reeh will lead a driving lineup that includes Ralf Schall, Christian Scherer, and Henry Walkenhorst. They will compete in the highly competitive SP9 category, facing off against contemporary GT3 entries. Reeh and Schall have prior experience at the event, having driven the team’s Porsche last year, while Scherer, known for his work as a ‘RaceTaxi’ driver on the Nordschleife, will make his debut. Walkenhorst previously competed in SP9, fielding his own team.
Historically, Walkenhorst Motorsport has a strong pedigree with the Z4 GT3, achieving a sixth-place overall finish in 2015 during their campaigning from 2013 to 2018. The Z4 GT3 has a notable history at the Nürburgring, securing second-place finishes with the Marc VDS Racing Team in both 2013 and 2015. Its last outing in 2019 ended prematurely due to an early retirement by Team Speedline Racing.
The 2026 ADAC 24H Nürburgring will take place from May 14 to 17, offering fans the chance to see this iconic car back in action.
