Haase Quickest in Nürburgring 24 Hours Qualifying 2
Christopher Haase set the fastest time in Qualifying 2 for the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours, clocking an impressive 8:10.580 in the #1 Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II for Scherer Sport PHX. The session opened with 15 minutes dedicated exclusively to the SP 9 category, providing teams an opportunity for clear air runs.
Haase’s lap was four seconds faster than his previous best from Qualifying 1, positioning him comfortably at the top. In pursuit, Marco Mapelli in the #28 ABT Lamborghini recorded an 8:11.647, despite facing minor mechanical issues during the session. Christian Engelhart remarked, "We are very satisfied… We had a few surprising problems in the first qualifying, but better now than in the race."
Laurens Vanthoor of the #16 Scherer Sport PHX Porsche 911 delivered a late surge, setting an 8:12.103 just as darkness fell, securing a position in the Top Qualifying session. His performance was particularly noteworthy given the car’s earlier difficulties with a driveshaft and engine damage.
Jordan Pepper’s #27 ABT Lamborghini finished fourth with an 8:12.279, while the #34 Walkenhorst Aston Martin took the final Top Qualifying spot. The #37 Prosport Racing Aston Martin Vantage, thanks to Marek Bockmann’s strong performance, finished sixth.
The #911 Manthey Porsche landed in seventh after Kevin Estre’s 8:15.379, while the ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 Evo struggled in ninth with a time of 8:16.738. Hans-Peter Naundorf, team boss, acknowledged the challenges faced during preparation, stating, "We would have liked to participate in the top qualifying, but at the moment, we are having a hard time."
Top Qualifying is scheduled for 13:20 local time tomorrow. The upcoming session will include the top five from Qualifying 2, along with previously secured entrants.
