Nürburgring 24 Hours: Qualifying 1 Summary
In the opening qualifying session for the Nürburgring 24 Hours, the #1 Audi R8 LMS GT3 evo II from Scherer Sport PHX secured the top spot with a lap time of 8:14.162, 4.7 seconds faster than any other competitor. Christopher Haase achieved this time on his first flying lap, demonstrating the team’s competitive edge despite a recent switch from Yokohama to Michelin tires.
The Audi aims to qualify for the top shootout after having to requalify due to the tire change. The #16 Porsche from Scherer Sport faced issues as well, ending the session in 12th place with a best lap of 8:22.109 before a mechanical failure forced Patric Niederhauser to return to the pits.
Following the Audi in the standings was the #48 Black Falken Porsche, which managed a sub-8:20 lap. Raffaele Marciello finished third in the #98 ROWE Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO, while the #54 Dinamic GT Porsche slipped to fourth, despite an impressive early lap of 8:19.337. Several notable incidents occurred during the session, including a fire on the #97 Saugmotoren Motorsport Porsche and mechanical failures affecting multiple entries, including the #396 Adrenalin Motorsport Porsche Cayman and the #50 equipe vitesse Audi. The #160 Toyota also had an off-track incident in the closing minutes, and the #55 Porsche was seen returning to the pits with a left-rear puncture.
