Asian Le Mans Series Finale: Red Flag After Major Incident

The Asian Le Mans Series season finale faced a significant interruption due to a collision involving the #25 Algarve Pro Racing ORECA 07 and the #15 Kessel Racing Ferrari 296 GT3. The incident occurred on the exit of Turn 8, resulting in both vehicles impacting the left-hand barrier.

Both drivers, Michael Jensen and Memo Gidley, exited their cars unaided and were assessed at the medical center. The race was red-flagged with 3 hours and 20 minutes still on the clock. The restart is scheduled for 18:20 GST, without an extension to the race.

At the time of the incident, pole sitter Giorgio Roda was leading in the #5 United Autosports ORECA, followed closely by John Falb in the #20 Algarve Pro entry. CrowdStrike Racing by APR, currently positioned fifth overall, is poised to secure the championship title, while the #47 Cetilar Racing entry is in 13th place.

In the GT class, GetSpeed holds the top two positions with the #9 Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO driven by Steve Jans leading, followed by the #37 entry of Abdulla Ali Al-Khelaifi. The #69 Team WRT BMW M4 GT3 Evo sits third, ahead of the title-contending #74 Kessel Racing Ferrari, which has a 17-point lead in the championship standings.

In LMP3, the #26 Bretton Racing Ligier JS P325 is currently ahead but has not yet completed its mandatory pit stops, trailing behind the points-leading #17 CLX Motorsport Ligier.

Significant barrier damage will delay the race’s resumption, with further updates expected at 18:00 GST (14:00 UTC). Fans can catch the race live through designated streaming platforms.
