Silverstone Festival Highlights GT3 Legends and Masters Events
Silverstone, UK – The Silverstone Festival made a triumphant return, showcasing a diverse array of motorsport talent and machinery across several prominent series, including the newly launched GT3 Legends and the Masters Endurance Legends.
GT3 Legends
The inaugural GT3 Legends race featured a competitive 35-car grid, highlighted by veteran drivers Graham Davidson and Olly Bryant’s return in their respective Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 and BMW Z4 GT3. A tightly contested 50-minute race ended with Danny Winstanley clinching victory in his Audi R8 LMS, successfully navigating a strategic pit stop that allowed him to overtake early leader Rob Huff. Davidson completed the podium, emphasizing the thrilling nature of the event.
In a notable debut, the Reiter/SaReNi Chevrolet Camaro, driven by Nigel Mustill and Craig Dolby, showed promising performance, indicating its competitive potential within the series.
Masters Endurance Legends
Steve Brooks dominated the Masters Endurance event, claiming victory in both races with his Peugeot 90X. Starting from fourth, he stormed to a win on Saturday and maintained his momentum from pole on Sunday. The podium of the first race saw Christophe d’Ansembourg and his father Werner secure second and third in their Lola-Aston Martin DBR1-2 and Pescarolo-Judd 01, respectively. On Sunday, d’Ansembourg Jr. improved to a second-place finish, with Keith Frieser’s Zytek 09S rounding out the top three.
The Bentley Continental GT3 pairing of Witt Gamski and Ross Wylie displayed dominant form, securing two consecutive wins in the GT category.
Masters Group C
In the Masters Group C race, Andy Soucek’s Lancia LC2 achieved a commanding victory after overcoming early challenges from Allard Kalff’s Spice SE92C. The competitive field included Xavier Micheron with his Nissan R90CP, finishing third, with Stuart Hall’s March-BMW 86G close behind.
Masters## GT Trophy
The Masters GT Trophy showcased a Lamborghini Gallardo GT3 1-2 finish, led by teammates Craig Wilkins and Aaron Scott, who capitalized on their pace to pull 30 seconds ahead of their sister car driven by Neil Glover and Luke Reade. Bonamy Grimes and Johnny Mowlem’s Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo secured third place in the Corse class, while James and Bill Caley won the Cup class with their Porsche 991.2 Cup. In the GT4 class, Daniel Quintero emerged victorious in a closely contested battle among three Ginetta G55s.
