2025 Spa 24 Hours Race Preview

As the 2025 Spa 24 Hours approaches, a diverse array of factory teams is vying for overall victory. Notable entrants include Ferrari, Lamborghini, Aston Martin, Mercedes, BMW, and Steller Motorsport, which is making its debut with the Chevrolet Corvette GT3 in the Silver Cup class.

Starting Line-Up

The starting drivers have been confirmed, with Marvin Kirchhöfer in the pole-sitting #59 Garage 59 McLaren. He will be flanked by Jules Gounon in the #17 Mercedes-AMG Team GetSpeed entry. Significant attention will also be on Aston Martin’s Ross Gunn, starting the Pro-Am #100 Beechdean AMR Vantage GT3 Evo from the 62nd position overall.

Warm-Up Session

The pre-race warm-up session saw Alex Aka clock the fastest time of 2:17.832 in the #99 Tresor Attempto Racing Audi, setting the pace in the Silver Cup. Maximilian Paul followed closely in the #333 Paul Motorsport Lamborghini, just 0.076 seconds behind. Mathieu Jaminet, driving the #18 Dinamic GT Porsche, was the top Pro runner, completing the top three.

Noteworthy incidents included the #66 Tresor Attempto Racing Audi, which faced mechanical issues and did not finish the session. Three other teams, including the #28 Haas RT Audi, #92 Herberth Motorsport Porsche, and #98 Rowe Racing BMW, opted out of warm-up activities.

Team Insights

Haupt Racing Team is highlighting its recent success with the Ford Mustang GT3 after a strong performance at the Nürburgring 24. With a two-car lineup this weekend, Arjun Maini expressed confidence in the team’s development and learning progress, noting:

"Each time we learn something new… as long as we’re learning, that’s going to help us for the future."

Penalties

The #8 Kessel Racing Ferrari, entered in the Bronze Cup, underwent an engine change before the race due to an anomaly detected during Night Practice, resulting in a mandatory 150-second stop-go penalty to be served during the 24-hour race.
