Ginetta Transfers UK Championships to SRO for 2026 Season
Ginetta has announced that SRO Motorsports Group will take operational control of its three UK-based one-make championships—Ginetta Juniors, GT Academy, and GT Championship—beginning in the 2026 season. This strategic partnership is aimed at enhancing the development of racing talent within the UK motorsport ladder, recognized for producing drivers who have advanced to Formula 1 and IndyCar, among other series.
The transition will enable Ginetta to focus on scaling production in response to the growing demand for its race cars, while ensuring that its UK championships operate under a globally respected framework. Ginetta’s racing structure spans multiple categories, showcasing vehicles from G40 and G56 models in national series to GT4, GT2, and LMP3 cars.
The Ginetta Juniors series, noted for its cost-effectiveness and depth of talent, serves as a critical entry point for young drivers aged 14-17. Prominent alumni include current F1 World Champion Lando Norris and Red Bull Racing’s Issac Hadjar. The series is also a proving ground for drivers aiming for professional careers.
Ginetta will continue to develop the G56 for adult competitors, with various formats including the introductory GT Academy car and the powerful GT4 and GT2 models, the latter competing in the SRO’s GT2 European Series.
Starting in 2026, the championship events will feature an expanded broadcast reach through GT World’s YouTube channel and Sky Sports F1, aiming to create a substantial digital audience for Ginetta’s offerings. A new multi-class format will also be introduced, allowing shared track time while maintaining separate classifications.
The 2026 UK championships calendar includes:
- March 31: British GT x Ginetta Media Day, Silverstone GP
- April 11/12: Donington Park GP (Juniors only)
- April 25/26: Silverstone GP

- July 11/12: Zandvoort (Juniors only)

Mike Simpson, CEO of Ginetta, remarked, “This is a defining moment… operationally controlling and integrating the championships into their successful business model will provide Ginetta with a pathway for global scale.”
Lawrence Tomlinson, owner of Ginetta, emphasized, “This partnership creates a clear, credible pathway from a driver’s first race to the highest levels of GT competition.”
Stéphane Ratel, Founder and CEO of SRO Motorsports Group, noted, “Today marks the beginning of a new chapter… overseeing more of this pathway will further benefit those yet to embark on the journey towards GT racing’s summit.”
This reorganization signals a pivotal change in Ginetta’s approach for the future of motorsport in the UK and globally.
