Team NZ Withdraws from Bathurst 12 Hour Following Major Crash
Bathurst, Australia – Team NZ’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 has officially withdrawn from the Bathurst 12 Hour after sustaining significant damage during a practice session. The incident occurred late in Practice 4 when driver Graeme Dowsett collided with Alfred Renauer’s Herberth Motorsport Porsche 911 at Reid Park, causing the Aston Martin to crash into the wall.
Following a thorough assessment of the car, the team opted to pack up early, acknowledging that the damage rendered the vehicle unfit for competition.
In a statement shared via social media, the team expressed their disappointment, stating, “While this is not the outcome we hoped for, we are grateful that our driver is safe and incredibly proud of the team’s hard work and professionalism throughout the event.”
The withdrawal significantly impacts the GT4 category, which now features only Method Motorsport’s McLaren Artura.
Practice 5 is scheduled to commence at 8:05 AM local time on Saturday, as teams prepare for the race day ahead.
