Ferrari Unveils 296 GT3 Evo for 2026
Spa Francorchamps, Belgium – Ferrari formally introduced the 296 GT3 Evo today, an evolution of its successful GT3 model that has captivated customers since deliveries began in late 2022. While the car retains a similar aesthetic, pivotal technical upgrades driven by customer feedback are now implemented.
Technical Enhancements
Ferrari’s Head of Endurance Programmes, Alessandra Todeschini, emphasized the importance of client input in shaping the Evo. Notable changes include:
- Rear Wing Adjustments: Redesigned for easier on-car adjustments.
- Mirror Mounting: New size and attachment methods address vulnerabilities observed during close racing.
- Aero Improvements: Modifications to reduce aerodynamic wake, enhancing performance in drafting scenarios.
- Suspension and Cooling: Updated suspension configurations and improved brake cooling ducts, which also enhance driver comfort.
- Gearbox: Introduction of a shorter ratio gearbox for enhanced performance.
Todeschini explained, “All of this is done within the permitted evolution under the car’s current homologation. We’ll begin production in the last quarter of 2025, with the Evo debuting in 2026.” Current 296 GT3 owners will be able to upgrade their cars with a forthcoming kit.
Production Insights
The predecessor, the 488 GT3, had a remarkable production run lasting seven years. The 296 GT3 has surpassed 100 units produced with a monthly output of six cars, supported by a full order book thanks to prioritizing competitive racing clients.
Ferrari is cautiously expanding its market footprint, accommodating lifestyle and track clients while introducing a new homologated ‘Biposto’ version of the 296 GT3 for non-racing enthusiasts. “This required a complete interior rework, including the roll-cage design,” Todeschini confirmed.
Conclusion
The 296 GT3 Evo appears well-positioned to sustain Ferrari’s competitiveness in GT racing, supported by a diverse client base and forthcoming enhancements. The evolving platform solidifies Ferrari’s commitment to both racing and recreational drivers.
