Nicki Thiim Joins Comtoyou Racing for DTM 2026 Season
Aston Martin Racing’s factory driver Nicki Thiim has officially signed with Comtoyou Racing for the 2026 DTM season, bringing his extensive experience to the Belgian team’s two-car Vantage AMR GT3 Evo program alongside Nicolas Baert.
Thiim, a two-time FIA World Endurance Championship champion, previously competed in the DTM with T3 Motorsport in 2022 and SSR Performance in 2024, where he secured his sole DTM victory. In 2025, he made a switch to Abt Sportsline. 2026 marks Thiim’s debut with Aston Martin in the DTM series.
The Danish driver has a successful history with Comtoyou Racing, having clinched victory at the 2024 24 Hours of Spa in the GT World Challenge Europe, where he will continue to race concurrently in 2026.
Reflecting on his DTM aspirations, Thiim stated, “It’s no secret that I have wanted to race in DTM all my life… carrying the famous wings on my chest in the DTM is very special and personal to me.”
Thiim replaces Gilles Magnus, who struggled during Comtoyou’s inaugural DTM campaign. The team found momentum later in the season, securing points in the fourth round and achieving multiple top 10 finishes, along with a pole position at Hockenheim.
Baert commented on the upcoming season, “We made huge progress in 2025. This year, we go in with the advantage of knowing the car, the circuits, and the championship.”
Adam Carter, Aston Martin’s head of endurance motorsport, expressed confidence in Thiim’s contributions, saying, “We are proud to see our valued partner Comtoyou Racing choose to race the Aston Martin Vantage GT3… Aston Martin Racing wishes Comtoyou Racing, Nicki, and Nicolas Baert every success in this venture.”
The 2026 DTM season promises to be competitive, with high expectations for Thiim and Comtoyou Racing as they aim for success on the track.
