Fox Motorsport Revives British GT Campaign with James Townsend and Aston Martin

Fox Motorsport has announced its return to the British GT Championship for the 2026 season, partnering with Aston Martin Racing as a GT4 customer team. The Essex-based outfit, previously successful in Ginetta GT racing, last participated in British GT during the 2023 ‘Donington Decider’ event.

James Townsend, a seasoned competitor with multiple class victories in both the Ginetta GT5 Challenge and GT4 Supercup, will drive the team’s new Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 Evo in the GT4 Pro-Am category. He views this venture as a significant step in his racing career, stating, “This is the biggest thing I’ve done in motorsport… creating Townsend Racing powered by Fox Motorsport was a no-brainer.”

Fox Motorsport has a history of competing in British GT, including an outright GT3 win at Spa in 2022. Team principal Paul McNeilly emphasized the strategic importance of this partnership, aiming to establish the team as the leading Aston Martin GT4 squad in the UK. “To become an Aston Martin Racing partner team represents another step forward for our team,” he remarked.

With this announcement, Fox Motorsport becomes the third Aston Martin GT4 customer team for the British GT’s 34th season, joining GBR Stratton Motorsport and Full Send Racing. Names and details of Townsend’s teammate will be revealed later.

The team’s history in the championship began in 2013, and they are eager to return to the grid, with their sights set firmly on Silverstone.
