United Autosports Prepares for 24 Hours of Le Mans
Le Mans, France— United Autosports, led by Richard Dean and Zak Brown, arrives at the iconic Circuit de la Sarthe with four entries across three classes for the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, a significant event for the Anglo-American team. Last year, they celebrated victory in the LMP2 category with the #22 Oreca-07 Gibson, driven by Oliver Jarvis, Bijoy Garg, and Nolan Siegel.
This year, although Jarvis will compete in the Pro/Am entry, the team focuses on maximizing its potential in all classes. The LMP2 #22 car will be piloted by Pietro Fittipaldi, David Heinemeier Hansson, and Renger van der Zande, all experienced drivers ready to lead the team’s efforts. Van der Zande emphasized, “If you want to have a shot at the win, United is the right place to be.”
The Pro/Am #23 car will feature defending champion Jarvis alongside newcomer Daniel Schneider and Ben Hanley, who will mentor Schneider through his debut in the main event. Despite limited experience in LMP2, Schneider expressed excitement: "It’s a dream come true… I look forward to having a proper race to enjoy there."
In addition to the LMP2 cars, United Autosports also fields two McLaren 720S LMGT3 Evos in the LMGT3 class. This year marks a strategic shift, as the team is the official partner of McLaren in its return to Le Mans, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of McLaren’s overall victory in 1995.
The season has been challenging, with early struggles in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). Their #95 entry, despite winning pole in Qatar, finished seventh, while the #59 car secured second after a late lead loss. United currently sits sixth in the championship standings, 17 points adrift of the leaders.
Le Mans offers a unique opportunity with double points on the line and no success ballast, allowing United to regroup. Cottingham stated, "We’ve had our bad luck… the championship is still up in the air."
Off the track, McLaren is expected to announce details of its forthcoming Hypercar program during a press conference before the 24 Hours, with United Autosports positioned as a frontrunner to partner in future Hypercar efforts.
As the team gears up for the challenge ahead, their focus remains on defending their achievements and pursuing further success in one of motorsport’s most prestigious races.
