Victor Martins Signs with Alpine Endurance Team for 2026 FIA WEC Hypercar Program
Alpine Endurance Team has confirmed the signing of Victor Martins for its FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar program ahead of the 2026 season. The 24-year-old French driver, who claimed the 2022 FIA Formula 3 title and has spent the last three seasons in FIA Formula 2, is shifting to endurance racing as part of a strategic lineup adjustment.
Martins previously demonstrated his potential during the 2024 FIA WEC Rookie Test, where he was the fastest rookie in the morning session while evaluating Alpine’s A424 LMDh. He expressed his commitment to the team, stating, “Joining Alpine Endurance Team is a significant step in my career… Competing in my first 24 Hours of Le Mans with this team is a huge motivation.”
In addition to Martins, António Félix Da Costa and Frédéric Makowiecki have been announced as confirmed drivers for Alpine’s Hypercar entry. The specific car numbered #35 or #36 that Martins will race has yet to be decided.
The restructuring comes amid the departure of Mick Schumacher, who is set to join IndyCar, and Paul-Loup Chatin, both of whom were part of Alpine’s previous lineup.
Philippe Sinault, Alpine’s Team Principal, emphasized the importance of Martins’ addition, saying, “Victor will bring us his natural speed, experience at the highest level, and technical understanding.” He added that both parties share a mutual desire to collaborate effectively for the team’s progress.
Martins will make his FIA WEC debut at the Qatar 1812KM, scheduled from March 26-28, 2026.
