Lamborghini Launches Temerario GT3 Ahead of Sebring Debut
Ahead of its competitive debut this weekend at the 12 Hours of Sebring, Lamborghini has unveiled the Temerario GT3—a significant milestone as it marks the first Lamborghini racing car designed and produced entirely in-house. The race-ready vehicle features a four-litre twin-turbo V8 engine developed concurrently with its road-going counterpart.
Development Insights
Lamborghini’s project manager, Gianluca Sivestrini, emphasized the car’s motorsport objectives from its inception: “The chassis architecture and serviceability were engineered specifically to meet the demands of endurance racing while ensuring operational efficiency.” The car has undergone rigorous testing, amassing over 15,000 kilometres with minimal reliability issues.
Driver Feedback
Factory driver Marco Mapelli noted the car’s improved drivability compared to its predecessor, the Huracán: “We focused on making the car more accessible, especially for gentleman drivers, while maintaining top-tier performance.” The new twin-turbo engine delivers enhanced torque characteristics, albeit at the expense of the iconic V10’s sound.
Competition Plans
The Temerario GT3 will compete in the GTD Pro category, partnering with Pfaff Motorsports at Sebring. It is set to serve multiple campaigns this year in the IMSA SportsCar Championship, GT World Challenge Europe, and DTM, with active engagement from factory-supported teams throughout its development phases.
Mapelli highlighted the importance of teamwork in endurance racing: “Days like these create the team spirit that is essential in endurance racing.”
As the Lamborghini Temerario GT3 prepares for its race debut, all eyes will be on its performance amid a competitive field.
