BMW M Teams Up with Young Stars for FIA WEC Rookie Test
BMW M has announced that factory drivers Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts will participate in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Rookie Test at Bahrain International Circuit on November 9, following the season finale. This marks the first opportunity for both drivers to drive the BMW M Hybrid V8 Hypercar.
The duo, champions of the 2025 GT World Challenge Europe and Sprint Cup, are the last two winners of the Intercontinental GT Challenge, with van der Linde securing four out of five victories this season. Notably, van der Linde has prior prototype experience, having raced in the 2021 Asian Le Mans Series, while Weerts last tested with the ORECA 07 LMP2 during the 2023 Rookie Test.
This inaugural Hypercar outing emphasizes BMW’s strategy to integrate top talent into their endurance racing program, as the brand prepares for future developments in the Hypercar category.
