WRT Confirms 2026 LMGT3 Line-Ups with Significant Changes

WRT has officially announced its driver line-ups for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in the BMW M4 GT3 Evo, marking a pivotal shift as both of their 2025 Bronze-rated drivers will depart.

Yasser Shahin is slated to join the newly restructured Manthey Porsche team, while Ahmad Al Harthy is also set to leave, along with his Silver-ranked teammate Valentino Rossi. Rossi is expected to transition back to the GT World Challenge, despite recent regulatory changes in LMGT3 regarding a one-stint tire allocation—an adjustment he reportedly advocated for.

A key addition to WRT for 2026 is Darren Leung, who returns after a successful stint with the team in 2024, where he secured a race victory at Imola. After a season with United Autosport in a McLaren, Leung partners with BMW again while maintaining his commitments with his own Paradine Competition in SRO events.

American driver Anthony McIntosh, a former double Am Champion in the Lamborghini SuperTrofeo North America and the Italian GT Sprint Series, joins the WRT squad following a brief tenure with Racing Spirit of Leman in an Aston Martin.

Vincent Vosse, Team Principal of BMW M Team WRT, expressed enthusiasm about the continuity in the team’s driver roster, stating, “We are delighted to announce our IMSA and WEC drivers… This establishment tells a lot and is a valuable asset as we continue growing towards our objectives.” He emphasized the return of Leung and welcomed McIntosh, indicating strong hopes for future performance.

As the 2026 season approaches, WRT’s evolving line-up signifies both a challenge and opportunity, aligning with the team’s broader competitive aspirations in the world of motorsport.
