WSR Enters British GT Championship with Turkington and Graham
West Surrey Racing (WSR) has confirmed its entry into the 2026 British GT Championship, unveiling a new team lineup featuring four-time BTCC champion Colin Turkington and circuit racing newcomer Ernie Graham. The team will field a BMW M4 GT4 Evo in the Pro-Am category, marking a significant expansion into GT racing for the 18-time BTCC champions.
Turkington, renowned for his 72 BTCC victories—second on the all-time list—returns to full-time racing after a two-year hiatus. He expressed enthusiasm about transitioning to GT racing, stating, “It’s been an ambition of mine… to dive seriously into GT racing.”
Graham, an accomplished driver in rallying with three FIA European Historic Rally Championships (2005, 2022, 2023), shifts his focus to circuit racing after spending 2025 competing in the BMW Car Club Racing Championship, where he achieved nine podiums and finished second in the Cup class standings. He expressed his excitement, noting, “I’ve always loved new challenges.”
WSR Sporting and Operations Director Carl Mitchell emphasized the team’s commitment to developing championship success through its diverse driver lineup. “It’s going to be a big learning year for us,” he added, reinforcing their readiness to expand operations with experienced staff returning to support this new venture.
The British GT season kicks off at the Silverstone 500, scheduled for April 25-26, 2026.
