Le Mans 2025: Key Insights Ahead of the Race
As the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans approaches, several prominent figures in motorsport shared updates regarding their teams’ preparations and expectations.
Jean-Marc Finot, Senior VP of Motorsport, Stellantis
Finot expressed optimism about the Peugeot 9X8’s performance, stating, “This is our third consecutive Le Mans with the 9X8. Our car has always finished this race, and we believe this year will be no different.” He acknowledged the unique challenges posed by the Le Mans regulations compared to the World Endurance Championship (WEC) but emphasized their commitment: “We’ll remain in this Championship as long as we are competitive.”
Bruno Famin, VP Motorsport, Alpine
Famin highlighted Alpine’s upward trajectory with three podium finishes in the last five races: “We were in the lead at Spa, and that was extremely satisfying.” However, he cautioned about the complexities of Le Mans, stating, “We have to be humble… We are surrounded by 19 or 20 other competitors that can reasonably hope for a good result.” The team’s focus remains on minimizing mistakes as they aim to finish strong.
Olivier Panis, Panis Racing
Celebrating a decade at Le Mans in LMP2, Panis stated, “Our ambition is obviously to win Le Mans. Our team is ready.” He discussed nurturing young drivers, emphasizing the experience of Franck Perera, whom he has known since their time at Toyota in F1. The #48 VDS Panis Racing Oreca 07 Gibson receives backing from Toyota Gazoo Racing, aimed at developing future talents for the Hypercar category.
Celia Martin, First-Time Le Mans Competitor
Martin reflected on her journey to Le Mans, noting, “I started my career at Nordschleife… and learned a lot about dealing with rain and bad weather. It could very well help me here.” She described her transition to become a bronze driver as pivotal in securing her debut at this prestigious event.
Vincent Vosse, BMW Team Principal
Vosse acknowledged last year’s struggles at Le Mans but noted significant improvements in the BMW car since then. “We’ll have a first glimpse of what we can achieve during test day on Sunday,” he remarked, indicating that the team seeks clarity on their competitive standing on this unique track.
As teams finalize preparations, insights from these industry leaders illustrate the intense focus and ambition driving their efforts in the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans.
