Jack Hawksworth Prepares for 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans
Le Mans, France – Jack Hawksworth returns to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, stepping in as a last-minute substitution driver for the AKKODIS ASP Team, this time in the #78 Lexus RC F GT3 following Ben Barnicoat’s injury from a cycling accident. Unlike the previous year, Hawksworth arrives with significant preparation and a refined team ready to contend.
Hawksworth’s previous experience at Le Mans was marked by last-minute arrangements, but now he arrives confident due to better preparation and organizational structure within the team. “There’s just a calmness in the garage… you can see it’s so much more a refined operation,” Hawksworth noted, emphasizing the team’s growth from their first appearance.
Entering the fourth round of the 2025 World Endurance Championship (WEC), the AKKODIS ASP team currently sits third in the championship standings, signaling a marked improvement from their debut season. Hawksworth reflected on this evolution: “Last year, I came in with no expectations. This year, I come in with a ton of confidence.”
To prepare for this year’s race, he undertook extensive simulation and track-study efforts, allowing him to adjust more readily to the unique WEC regulations regarding slow zones and safety cars as compared to IMSA protocols. “They’ve made me feel really welcome,” he said, acknowledging the support from teammates Finn Gehrsitz and Arnold Robin in navigating these differences.
While he is accustomed to the Lexus RC F GT3 from his IMSA racing, Hawksworth noted key distinctions in tire performance and setup that will affect his strategy. “There are some small aero differences… and the philosophy and approach of the team is different,” he described.
In comparison to last year’s effort, which culminated in a 10th place finish with co-drivers Takeshi Kimura and Esteban Masson, Hawksworth’s insights and enhanced preparedness position him and the team as serious contenders this year. As he approaches the race, the former GTD PRO champion feels a renewed sense of optimism and readiness to perform.
