Ferrari’s Fred Vasseur Addresses Press and Season Progress Amid Speculation
Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur recently faced intense media scrutiny during a press conference, challenging reports from Italian outlets concerning his position and future at the Scuderia amid a rocky start to the Formula 1 season.
Vasseur, speaking in light-hearted terms about his cameo in the upcoming Formula 1 film featuring Brad Pitt, asserted, “I only had to say two words. It was not a huge experience, but it went pretty well.” However, his main message was serious as he urged journalists to recognize the impact of their words on individuals, stating, “enough is enough.”
Despite a season marked by challenges, including disqualifications and a significant points deficit, Vasseur noted a recent resurgence with podium finishes in the last two races. Assessing Ferrari’s current status, he remarked, “Initially, the goal was to fight for the championship…we need to improve continually.” He also acknowledged the surprising pace of competitors like McLaren, admitting, “We didn’t do a good job on our side.”
Vasseur’s comments were echoed by drivers Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, both voicing their support for him. Hamilton emphasized teamwork, noting he is “here to work with the team, but also with Fred,” while Leclerc highlighted their shared vision within the team.
As the season continues, Vasseur emphasizes the importance of capitalizing on opportunities, stating, “If you want to win the championship…you can’t leave points on the way.” The team’s challenge now lies in maintaining momentum and addressing earlier shortcomings as they look to close the gap in the championship standings.
