Las Vegas Grand Prix Secures Two-Year Extension, Poised for Long-Term Future
The Las Vegas Grand Prix will continue to feature on the Formula 1 calendar through at least 2027, following a two-year extension agreement. This development reinforces the event’s prominent place among the 24 races constituting the current season, bolstered by its unique promotion by Formula 1 itself.
Having made its return to the F1 schedule in 2023, the Las Vegas Grand Prix initially operated under a decade-long commitment. Given its success, and the significant economic impact it generates, a longer-term relationship is highly anticipated. "We want to make sure that we’re continuing to evolve what we’re doing," stated Emily Prazer, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Grand Prix and F1’s chief commercial officer.
Financially, the 2024 race weekend produced an impressive $934 million in revenue. The event recorded an attendance of 306,000, with 175,000 spectators arriving from outside Las Vegas, solidifying its status as the largest recurring event in the city.
The event’s economic significance extends beyond immediate revenue, as November’s race weekend recently became the most lucrative in Las Vegas history. Steve Hill, president of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, emphasized the event’s unparalleled economic contribution, stating, "It just has an impact that we aren’t able to replicate on an annual basis for anything else."
Despite facing challenges, the Las Vegas Grand Prix has cemented its status, with plans for an extended presence on the F1 calendar. Max Verstappen celebrated his championship win at the event last year, further elevating its profile.
As the Las Vegas Grand Prix prepares for the 2026 and 2027 seasons, the focus remains on ensuring its continued evolution and economic benefit for the city and Formula 1 alike.
