Mahiki Racing Transitions to Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo for Spa-Francorchamps
In a significant mid-season shift, Mahiki Racing has announced its switch to the Ginetta G56 GT4 Evo for the remainder of the 2025 British GT season. This decision follows a challenging start with the Lotus Emira GT4 package.
The team debuted three G56 GT4 Evos at Spa-Francorchamps, including a brand-new chassis and two rebuilt units from the previous season. Ginetta’s motorsport CEO, Mike Simpson, confirmed the last-minute arrangement, highlighting the team’s urgency after discussions post-Oulton. "We were delighted to take that call and make something happen quickly," he remarked, crediting the swift action to both parties’ commitment.
Mahiki’s owner, Steven Lake, boasts a longstanding relationship with Ginetta through his company, AIM Technologies, and many drivers on the team bring significant Ginetta racing experience. Simpson expressed confidence in the team’s potential for strong results: “With this GT4 field and this team, we feel a result could come soon.”
As the team prepares for the upcoming race, Simpson emphasized the need for a clean and reliable performance while acknowledging the learning curve associated with the new vehicle. "It’s going to be a learning job through each session, but the car is great," he stated.
The Ginetta lineup aims to strengthen Mahiki Racing’s position in a competitive field, with experienced drivers ready to leverage their familiarity with the G56 model. The British GT Championship continues to deepen its storyline, with Mahiki Racing poised for a promising turnaround at Spa.
