2025 Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix Preparations Advance with Major Renovations
Budapest, Hungary — The 40th edition of the Formula 1 Hungarian Grand Prix, scheduled for August 1-3, 2025, will feature significant upgrades to the Hungaroring, marking a pivotal transformation for the iconic venue.
At a press event held on Thursday, CEO Zsolt Gyulay showcased the extensive renovations that have revitalized both the paddock and media center, stating, "The goal was to replace the outdated infrastructure with a modern, efficiently operated pit building that meets all professional requirements of motorsport." The facilities have been essentially rebuilt, serving as a testament to the commitment towards modernizing the Hungarian Grand Prix experience.
The revamped paddock now includes 40 garages (36 for F1 teams and four for technical services), a VIP catering area, administrative offices, and a rooftop terrace, while the media center remains under construction. Gyulay noted that while construction completion is expected by April 2026, the exterior renovations are already finished, paving the way for a modernized experience from next year onwards.
Infrastructure and Economic Impact
The upgraded paddock will connect to the redesigned grandstand, which can accommodate 10,000 spectators and features modern broadcasting facilities. Hungarian State Secretary for Sport, Adam Schmidt, emphasized the significance of the event, stating, “The track and the Hungarian Grand Prix have become an integral part of our country’s recent history.”
Schmidt highlighted the economic contribution of the event, reporting that the recent race weekend attracted 300,000 attendees, with 80% being international visitors. The Hungarian Grand Prix generates an estimated 26 billion forints (€64 million) in GDP, with government investments yielding more than a 1.5x return.
Following a recent agreement extending the race’s tenure on the F1 calendar until at least 2032, modernization efforts commenced in earnest. This commitment underscores the Hungarian Grand Prix’s status as a cherished venue in F1 history.
Conclusion
The Hungaroring’s extensive renovations are set to enhance both the competitive atmosphere and overall experience for teams and fans alike. As preparations continue, the track’s evolution is poised to maintain its prominent place within the Formula 1 calendar.
