Formula 1 Adjusts 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix Schedule
Formula 1 has officially rescheduled the 2026 Azerbaijan Grand Prix at the Baku City Circuit, now set for Saturday, September 26, instead of the previously scheduled Sunday, September 27. This adjustment was made to accommodate Azerbaijan’s national Remembrance Day, honoring those lost during the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The revised race weekend schedule is as follows:
- Wednesday, September 23: Media Day
- Thursday, September 24: Practice Sessions 1 and 2
- Friday, September 25: Practice Session 3 and Qualifying
- Saturday, September 26: Grand Prix
The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be the 17th event in a 24-race season, positioned between the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid and the Singapore night race. Given the unique placement of this race, logistical operations remain unaffected.
Pre-Season Testing Dates Confirmed
In parallel, Formula 1 announced that pre-season testing will commence with unchanged dates:
- January 26-30: Private test at Barcelona-Catalunya
- February 11-13: Test 1 in Bahrain
- February 18-20: Test 2 in Bahrain
These sessions will mark the first on-track appearances for teams’ new chassis and power units ahead of the season opener in Australia on March 6, 2026, notably featuring the introduction of the Cadillac F1 team to the grid.
