Hamilton Endorses Verstappen for Potential Mercedes Move
Lewis Hamilton has publicly endorsed Max Verstappen for a potential move to Mercedes amid ongoing speculation regarding the Dutch driver’s future with Red Bull Racing. Hamilton, a seven-time World Champion, expressed his willingness to recommend Mercedes to Verstappen, highlighting the team’s superior environment and personnel.
Speaking at the British Grand Prix media day, Hamilton stated, “Of course. He’s coming from a great team. Red Bull has been an incredible team. But Mercedes is also amazing—great personnel and an inspiring factory environment.” This endorsement comes as Verstappen’s current form has raised questions about his long-term future with Red Bull.
Rumors indicate that Verstappen, a two-time World Champion, might consider a switch to Mercedes at the end of the season, especially in light of Red Bull’s inconsistent performance. Team principal Toto Wolff has confirmed ongoing discussions with Verstappen’s camp, amplifying the speculation around a possible transition.
When asked about his interactions with Wolff, Verstappen deflected, saying, “Who says that?” but refrained from denying any discussions had occurred.
The automotive dynamics within Formula 1 continue to shift as team alliances and driver contracts evolve, making Hamilton’s remarks particularly relevant. As teams prepare for the ongoing season, attention will remain fixed on Verstappen’s decisions and their implications for both Red Bull and Mercedes.
