Norris Leads British Charge Ahead of Home GP
As the British Grand Prix approaches, Lando Norris stands as the highest-ranked Briton in the drivers’ standings, currently placed second with 201 points—15 points behind his McLaren teammate, Oscar Piastri. Fellow British drivers George Russell, Alex Albon, and Ollie Bearman follow in fourth, eighth, and 18th, respectively.
In a press conference at Silverstone, Norris reflected on his status, acknowledging, “I have the best chance of winning the race…but I have not proven myself as the British number one.” He credited seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton as the dominant figure in British motorsport history, stating, “If you still take history into account, then Lewis is quite convincingly at the top.”
Hamilton’s impressive record at the British Grand Prix includes nine wins at Silverstone, the most recent being in 2024, and podium finishes every year since 2014.
Norris is buoyed by his recent victory at the Austrian Grand Prix, expressing excitement for the weekend ahead. “Every day is one to look forward to,” he noted, highlighting off-track activities as positive distractions while maintaining focus for the race.
The anticipation builds as Norris aims for his first win in front of a home crowd and strives to solidify his position among Britain’s elite F1 drivers.
