Racing Bulls Unveils Bold New Livery at Silverstone
Silverstone, UK – Racing Bulls has made a significant statement at the British Grand Prix, launching a striking new livery designed by Nigerian-British artist Slawn, renowned for his fusion of Yoruba heritage and urban London aesthetics. This distinctive design, created in collaboration with the fashion brand Hugo, represents the team’s evolution from a Red Bull sister team to a unique identity in the Formula 1 landscape.
Slawn, marking his place in motorsport history as the first artist to feature on a race car competing in the British GP, stated on Instagram, “Painting the way one vehicle at a time.” The vibrant graffiti artwork expands beyond the cars driven by Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar, extending to their race suits and team kits.
“It was very collaborative,” Slawn remarked, emphasizing the intricate design process. “You’ve got to think about the curvature and everything… I’ll just give them some graphics.”
Racing Bulls CEO Peter Bayer expressed the significance of this collaboration: “Slawn’s work is unlike anything we’ve seen in Formula 1, and that’s exactly why this collaboration felt right. We’re proud to bring something completely original to our fans.”
James Foster, SVP of global marketing at Hugo Boss, echoed Bayer’s sentiment, saying, “Witnessing the reveal of Slawn’s fresh, energetic art… has been inspiring and will consolidate Hugo’s ambition to take F1 further off-track and into culture.”
Beyond the track, Slawn’s community café in East London has been transformed into the Hugo Race Car Café, equipped with custom décor and an F1 simulator for fans unable to attend the race.
Reflecting on his journey into Formula 1 culture, Slawn emphasized the importance of role models, citing Ayrton Senna. "I knew who Ayrton Senna was because of his mindset and his focus,” he noted, as he now engages with the sport alongside his young son.
The combination of artistic creativity and strategic brand collaboration signals a new era for Racing Bulls as they establish a bold, distinct presence in Formula 1.
