British Grand Prix: Hamilton’s Struggles Hinge on Unstable SF-25
Lewis Hamilton faced another challenging race at the British Grand Prix, finishing fourth—his best result of the season thus far. This performance snapped a streak of four races where he had been outperformed by teammate Charles Leclerc, who also faced his own challenges.
Hamilton’s race, conducted on a damp Silverstone circuit, saw him expressing dissatisfaction with his SF-25’s handling. "It’s the most difficult car I’ve driven here in a few years," Hamilton remarked. "I just struggled to keep up. The tyres dropped off massively. The car was unbelievably tricky to drive."
Despite the track conditions improving toward the end of the race, Hamilton encountered difficulties and noted mistakes that impeded his performance. "Even then, you saw I went wide. So, lots of mistakes today," he reflected.
Approaching the midpoint of the 2025 season, Hamilton is currently sixth in the drivers’ championship with 103 points, trailing Leclerc by 16. He highlighted that consistency and improved low-speed balance were priorities for his team’s development. "What I’d like to get from the car for the remainder of the season is a consistent balance and a more stable setup," he stated.
Hamilton’s qualifying performance was promising, positioning him fifth but falling short of contention for pole after a late mistake in Q3. Ferrari remains second in the constructors’ standings, benefiting from their relative strength compared to competitors like Red Bull and Mercedes during this season.
As Hamilton continues to adapt to the car’s challenges, he aims to build on his achievements in the latter half of the season, focusing on maximizing performance and improving results on race day.
