SRO America Prepares for Key GT World Challenge at Barber Motorsports Park
BIRMINGHAM, AL – As the 2025 racing season approaches its climax, the SRO America championships converge at Barber Motorsports Park for a critical weekend of competition. This marks the penultimate event of the season, featuring essential races in the GT World Challenge America powered by AWS.
With only three races remaining—including two pivotal 90-minute sprints at Barber and the Indianapolis 8 Hour on October 18—teams are poised for intense battles on the track. A total of 15 GT3 entries will compete in what will be the final sprint format before a shift to a three-hour race structure in 2026.
Key Entries and Team Dynamics
The #16 AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 welcomes Brazilian driver Diego Gomes Nunes alongside Marcelo Hahn, adding a fresh dynamic to the lineup. The championship picture remains competitive in the Pro class, where three teams realistically vie for the title. The #99 Random Vandals Racing BMW M4 GT3 EVO, piloted by Kenton Koch and Connor De Phillippi, leads the standings with an 18-point advantage over JMF Motorsports’ Michai Stephens and Mikaël Grenier, and a 23.5-point cushion over RS1’s Alex Sedgwick and Jan Heylen.
In the Pro-Am division, Turner Motorsport’s Justin Rothberg and Robby Foley are well-positioned with a commanding 31-point lead in the #29 BMW, targeting back-to-back championships. Despite five teams being mathematically eligible, only DXDT Racing’s Blake McDonald/Matt Bell and Regulator Racing’s Philip Ellis/Jeff Burton (currently 48.5 points behind) pose a plausible threat to Turner Motorsport heading into Indianapolis.
The Am class will see a fierce contest between Dollahite Racing and AF Corse, with Scott Dollahite trailing AF Corse’s Jay Schreibman and Oswaldo Negri Jnr by just 10.5 points. Dollahite and Eric Powell will be back in action with the #6 Ford Mustang GT3 after recovering from a crash at Road America.
Pirelli GT4 America Update
In Pirelli GT4 America, a 23-car field readies for a triple-header weekend, including a make-up race for Road America Race 1, which was cancelled due to adverse weather. BMW teams dominate the leaderboard, with Kevin Boehm and Kenton Koch leading the Silver class by 40 points.
The Pro-Am and Am categories feature tighter battles, both led by BimmerWorld Racing. James Walker Jnr and Tyler McQuarrie maintain only a four-point lead in Pro-Am, while Charlie Postins and James Clay are three points ahead in the Am class.
Braydon Arthur is set to return in the #4 JMF Motorsports Aston Martin Vantage GT4 after missing the previous race, joining a competitive field that promises exciting racing action at Barber.
As teams prepare for this crucial event, all eyes will be on the track as the fight for championship supremacy intensifies.
