Norris Acknowledges Red Bull’s Superior Performance Following Recent Races
Lando Norris has expressed that Max Verstappen’s recent back-to-back victories in Monza and Baku should not come as a surprise, highlighting Red Bull Racing’s performance superiority over McLaren. With these wins, Verstappen has solidified his standing, enhancing his season total after a string of challenging races.
In Monza, the Dutch driver reasserted Red Bull’s dominance, enhanced further by recent upgrades. “The Red Bull has been good; they brought some upgrades to Monza which seems to have helped them improve even more,” Norris stated. He emphasized the team’s consistency, noting that Red Bull’s quick pace throughout the season, including earlier rounds, has been evident.
Norris acknowledged McLaren’s struggles, particularly in Azerbaijan, where he noted distinct performance gaps: “There were clearly some areas where they were just another level to us.” He elaborated on the difficulties McLaren faces in low-downforce configurations, stating, “I don’t think we had the pace of Red Bull, honestly. We still seem to struggle on lower downforce tracks.”
Despite McLaren’s impressive progress this season, Norris recognized the areas in which the team must improve to close the gap. He remarked, “We’ve had an amazing season, don’t get me wrong, but we clearly have things that are not good enough and we have to keep working on them.”
As the season continues, Norris anticipates that Red Bull will pose a formidable challenge to McLaren and others as teams prepare for the upcoming races.
