Cadillac Racing has confirmed a robust lineup for the 2026 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and Michelin Endurance Cup, fielding both Cadillac Whelen (Action Express Racing) and Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing teams. All six full-time drivers will return, leading into the Cadillac V-Series.R’s fourth season in the IMSA GTP class.
Driver Assignments
At Cadillac Whelen, Jack Aitken and Earl Bamber will continue as the full-time drivers, with Frederik Vesti participating as the Endurance Cup driver for all five long-distance events. Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing will maintain its lineup of Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque in the #10 entry, while Jordan Taylor and Louis Delétraz will drive the #40. Will Stevens is confirmed to return as the endurance driver for the #10 car, contributing to the key long-distance races, including Daytona, Sebring, and Petit Le Mans. Colton Herta will switch back to WTR for the endurance events, specifically Daytona, Sebring, and Petit Le Mans.
Herta, currently a test driver for Cadillac’s Formula 1 team, will compete in the FIA Formula 2 Championship for Hitech Grand Prix in parallel with his IMSA commitments. “I’m super excited to join Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing for the endurance rounds next year… I can’t wait to get behind the wheel of the Cadillac’s naturally aspirated engine,” Herta stated, reflecting on past success with the team.
2025 Season Recap
The Cadillac Whelen team concluded the 2025 season on a high note, securing consecutive victories at the Battle on the Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Motul Petit Le Mans. These wins propelled Aitken to second place in the GTP Drivers’ Championship and Cadillac Whelen to second in the GTP Teams’ Championship. Aitken spoke positively about the mix of personalities and competitive spirit within the team, emphasizing the synergy among drivers and their shared commitment to execute effectively in 2026.
General Manager Gary Nelson praised the trio of Aitken, Bamber, and Vesti, noting, “We are thrilled to have our drivers returning for 2026… After a challenging beginning to 2025, we expect to build on our momentum from the last two events.”
Wayne Taylor Racing, having experienced four podium finishes in the 2025 season, remains optimistic for their second year with the V-Series.R. Team owner Wayne Taylor expressed confidence, saying, “Having the same drivers for the full season… brings great continuity. We’re all looking forward to the November test in Daytona.”
Technical Developments
Cadillac is set to unveil an updated version of the V-Series.R at the IMSA Sanctioned Test in Daytona. The enhancements primarily focus on aerodynamic improvements following the previous year’s Evo modifications targeting electronics.
The combination of experienced drivers and anticipated upgrades positions Cadillac Racing strongly for the 2026 season, as they aim to capitalize on their recent successes and maintain competitive momentum.
