Tom Vialle Joins Honda HRC in Multi-Year Deal for MXGP Return
In a significant shift within the motorsports landscape, two-time MX2 World Champion and dual Supercross 250SX titleholder Tom Vialle has officially signed with Honda HRC, marking his return to the FIM Motocross World Championship (MXGP). This move follows his tenure in the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) in the U.S., where he navigated a challenging transition to the 450SX class for the 2026 season. KTM offered him a single-year contract, prompting Vialle’s strategic decision to secure a long-term opportunity with Honda.
Vialle will debut aboard the Honda CRF450R this weekend at the Paris Supercross. His return to Europe comes after achieving his goal of winning two supercross titles in America, and he aims to leverage the advantages of Honda’s competitive machinery in the MXGP series.
“This is a critical time in my career,” Vialle stated in the official Honda press release. “The chance to ride a factory CRF450R doesn’t come around often, and I am excited to continue my winning ways.”
The Honda HRC team is experiencing changes as they prepare for the 2026 MXGP season, which features a demanding 20-round calendar. Veteran racer Tim Gajser is expected to transition to Yamaha, while Ruben Fernandez has re-signed and aims to improve upon his fourth-place finish in the previous World Championship.
Vialle’s return to the MXGP also provides a familiar setting for him, having previously competed at this level. Although he is familiar with the logistics of the series, the increased competitiveness and longer format will require adaptation.
As Vialle prepares for the MXGP, his performance at the Paris Supercross will serve as an important first step in reacquainting himself with the racing landscape. The 2026 MXGP season climax will take place in Ernee, France, where Vialle previously claimed victory at the Motocross of Nations.
This strategic move not only underscores Vialle’s ambitions but also highlights Honda HRC’s commitment to reclaiming their stature within the motocross elite.
