Genesis Magma Racing has officially confirmed its driver roster for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season, signing Mathieu Jaminet and Paul-Loup Chatin to complement the previously announced André Lotterer, Pipo Derani, Mathys Jaubert, and Daniel Juncadella. Jamie Chadwick will serve as the reserve driver.
Team Principal Cyril Abiteboul expressed enthusiasm for the diverse skill sets of the chosen drivers, stating, “The combination of drivers far exceeds any expectation we had when we began the project… This is a huge mark of the trust these race winners and champions have placed in our young team.”
Jaminet, a former Porsche factory driver with over a decade of experience, enters Genesis following a successful tenure, including winning the 2022 IMSA GTD PRO championship and the recent IMSA GTP drivers’ title alongside Matt Campbell. He emphasized the significance of joining Genesis, stating, “This is the start of a new chapter… I’m really excited and looking forward to the challenge ahead.” Jaminet recently tested the GMR-001 Hypercar at MotorLand Aragón, noting differences in driving style required for the prototype.
Chatin brings vital Hypercar experience from his recent tenure with the Alpine Endurance Team, where he secured a victory at the 6 Hours of Fuji. He acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed confidence in the team’s potential, asserting, “I have full confidence in our team’s talent and determination to quickly move forward and fight for top positions.”
With the driver roster confirmed, Genesis Magma Racing will strategize the optimal driver pairings for its FIA WEC entries, potentially adopting a two-driver format for shorter races, similar to frameworks used by Porsche and Aston Martin.
Sporting Director Gabriele Tarquini highlighted the importance of driver chemistry, stating, “The key will be to make sure we have the best possible squad of drivers in both cars to help us create the strong foundations we need as a team.”
The Genesis GMR-001 is set to debut at the Qatar 1812KM, the opening event of the 2026 FIA WEC, scheduled from March 26 to 28, 2026.
