Gavin Ward Joins Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing
Former Arrow McLaren team principal Gavin Ward has joined Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) in a special advisory role, reporting directly to team president Jay Frye. Ward, who has a notable history in both Formula 1 and IndyCar, is already engaged in multiple projects with the team.
“Gavin’s joined us as in special advisory role for now and we’re excited to have him in the building,” Frye said. “He’s already proving to be a big asset for us.”
Ward’s career includes significant stints with the Red Bull Formula 1 engineering team before transitioning to IndyCar, where he collaborated closely with Josef Newgarden, culminating in a championship win in 2019. After his time with Newgarden, Ward briefly worked with Arrow McLaren before assuming the team principal role following Taylor Kiel’s departure to Chip Ganassi Racing.
His tenure at Arrow McLaren lasted until October 2024, as leadership changes occurred under CEO Zak Brown and current team principal Tony Kanaan. After resolving his non-compete clause, Ward was pursued by several IndyCar teams before selecting RLL, where he will work alongside familiar faces, including Brian Barnhart, Kyle Sagan, and Heath “Keto” Kosik.
With Ward on board, RLL aims to enhance its competitive edge in the upcoming seasons.
