Hamilton Faces Challenging Q1 Exit at Las Vegas Grand Prix
Las Vegas, NV – Lewis Hamilton endured a disappointing qualifying session at the Las Vegas Grand Prix, finishing 20th after being unable to secure a clean lap amid wet conditions. Hamilton expressed frustration over missing crucial tire temperature and losing track of time during the session, contributing to his last-place grid position.
“It feels horrible, but all I can do is let go,” Hamilton remarked. “I am optimistic about the car’s performance despite starting from 20th. This year has definitely been the hardest.”
Hamilton’s statement comes in light of what seemed to be a promising practice session, where he felt the Mercedes was competitive. Nevertheless, his hopes for a better qualifying run ended abruptly as he failed to launch a final lap attempt before the checkered flag.
In a parallel setback, Hamilton’s teammate Charles Leclerc also struggled during qualifying, finishing ninth after overshooting Turn 12. Leclerc highlighted ongoing issues with Ferrari’s car performance in wet conditions, noting that grip has been a chronic problem for the team since his arrival.
“We are doing something wrong,” Leclerc stated. “It’s extremely difficult to find grip, and the unpredictability of the car leads to many mistakes.”
Both drivers face significant challenges racing from the back of the grid, but Hamilton remains determined to capitalize on any opportunities during the race.
