Rolex 24 At Daytona: Acura Meyer Shank Racing Claims Pole Position Following Cadillac Penalty
Daytona Beach, FL – Renger van der Zande and the Acura Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) team secured pole position for the Rolex 24 At Daytona, taking advantage of a post-qualifying penalty issued to the No. 31 Cadillac Whelen V-Series.R. Originally on pole, the Cadillac team was disqualified due to a violation regarding rear skid block wear.
Van der Zande’s Acura ARX-06 will now lead the field, with the team transitioning from outside to inside the front row. Wayne Taylor Racing’s #40 Cadillac has been promoted to the outside pole position as a result of the disqualification.
“To have Acura MSR and HRC US on the pole is great for the entire team,” stated van der Zande. “We have a long race ahead of us, and our aim remains focused on the win.”
The #93 Acura, driven by van der Zande, Nick Yelloly, Álex Palou, and Kakunoshin Ohta, reflects considerable progress in its second year. Van der Zande expressed satisfaction with the team’s development, emphasizing the importance of cohesive collaboration.
“This showcases what we’ve learned over the past year. The execution is the key improvement from last season,” he noted. Palou has the potential to join an elite group of drivers by winning both the Rolex 24 and the Indianapolis 500.
As the clock ticks down to the green flag, the Acura crew remains confident, aiming to leverage their starting position in the grueling endurance race.
