Paddock Motorsport Prefers Stability for 2026 British GT Championship
Paddock Motorsport has confirmed that driver Mark Smith and team founder Martin Plowman will return for the 2026 British GT Championship, continuing their successful partnership on the #9 McLaren GT3 EVO. Accompanied by a new black and pink livery, the duo embarks on their fourth season together.
In 2025, Paddock Motorsport showcased significant performance improvements, achieving points finishes in all but one race. This was bolstered by the technical expertise of engineer Toby Phillips, who played a key role in the team’s progress. Plowman emphasized the optimism surrounding the upcoming season: “This year feels like a big one for the team. We want to push forward and be fighting for podium finishes.”
Smith, who secured a commendable 15 wins from 19 entries in the GT Cup, noted that their potential for the British GT season is promising given their growing capabilities. “We showed significant improvement throughout the year,” he stated, referencing the team’s enhanced qualifying performance and race pace.
In an initiative to give back, Paddock Motorsport has partnered with Prostate Cancer UK to raise awareness and funds through various campaigns, including hospitality services and charity auctions. Plowman remarked, “It’s a privilege to be involved in motorsport… we have an ambitious fundraising aim to support this cause.”
Prostate Cancer UK’s head of events, Seren Evans, expressed gratitude for Paddock’s dedication, stating, “We are so grateful for the dedication of Paddock Motorsport, who help fund lifesaving research.”
The team’s first 2026 test will take place in February at Portimão, with the British GT Media Day scheduled for March 31 at Silverstone. The season opener, the Silverstone 500, kicks off on April 25-26.
